PETITE HONEY SCONE RECIPE
The holiday season is right around the corner. With that said, my favorite thing to do around the holidays is catching up with family and friends. It's that one time of year that somehow brings people together. If you guys have been following along, every year during this time, my family loves to make honey-themed desserts. Honey flavored pastries have a lighter not so sweet taste and pair perfectly with a glass of tea or a shot of espresso.
If you are looking for a new recipe to try out or something perfect for tea time, check out my "Mom's honey cake recipe" and this "Petite Honey Scone" recipe.
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter (melted)
One egg
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup honey (for a healthier option, you can use date syrup)
3 cups & 2 tablespoons of flour
1tsp baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
One pinch of pink Himalayan sea salt
1 cup of confectioner sugar for coating
Directions
In a mixing bowl, add your melted butter, brown sugar, and egg until combined. Once combined, add honey and mix again. in the same bowl, add flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Then continue to mix until the dough is formed and thoroughly combined. The Dough should have a wet clay consistency
once the Dough is complete; cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 15 minutes. In the meantime, preheat the oven to 340 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Once your dough is chilled, please remove it from the bowl and roll it into 1.5 TBL spoon-sized balls. ( I recommend using a cookie scooper or scone mold to measure out balls) once balls are formed, roll each ball in confectioner sugar and lay it on a baking sheet with parchment paper. Bake for about 12-15 minutes. Once scones are finished baking, they should have cracks on top and golden/brown edges. Let the scones cool for about 20 minutes, and then enjoy.
These scones pair best with espresso, tea, and milk. <3
