Brand To Watch: Madison Seidman
In Honor of NYFW, I wanted to launch a new series where I will be highlighting people, brands, organizations, and successful stories. This Blog has always been where I shared my creative opinions and planned to inspire others with what I share. Continuing with that theme, I want to share a new brand I have completely fallen in love with - "Madison Seidman." Madison Seidman is an NYC Based brand that focuses on designing for the feminine frame. I had the opportunity to sit down with the namesake designer and gain more insight into the brand she started in her tiny NYC apartment; Read Below. What is Madison Seidman?
Madison Seidman is an NYC-based namesake brand focusing on luxury hair accessories. Their primary purpose is to design products for the feminine frame.
Since she was a little girl, Madison has always created little accessories; over time, they became more elaborate. When she turned old enough, her grandmother taught her how to sew; from there, things just took off. Madison has since developed a profound relationship with the fashion industry and knew it was her time to shine. She started her namesake label in March of 2022, selling her product through her e-commerce site and small NYC boutiques.
Who inspires you (Business-wise)?
When asked who she looks up to, "business-wise," madison answered, "Gigi Burris Millinery,"; a hat designer in NYC who focuses on conscious craftsmanship and specializes in couture millenary.
Who is the ideal customer for your line?
Madison explains she has a fictional muse, Carla. Carla is a bald figure who has a prominent personality. when questioning the hair accessory designer with a "bald muse," Madison replied, "Carla is more than just the hair on her head; she is a personality. she is Bold, sassy, and isn't scared to take no for an answer." She hopes her ideal customer is similar to Carla because she isn't scared to take risks with her outfits.

Are you working on any newness?
I am working on a new colorway focusing on more timeless designs introducing moiré feathers.
Why should someone buy your product over a dupe?
"My product is handmade, and no two are alike. I use hand-dyed feathers and dead-stock fabrics, making them harder to replicate. My product is unique because all my materials are sourced locally in New York and made in NY. I want my product to be recognizable, something that builds community. I want a group of girls to run into each other on the street, all wearing my product, and bond over the fact that it's a Madison Seidman original."
If you could choose three retailers to carry your line, who would they be?
1) Nordstrom
2) Bergdorf Goodman
3) High-end boutiques
What advice would you give someone just starting in the industry?
"find a hole in the wall and then find someone similar in the aesthetic you're aiming to achieve - use them as guidance." - Madison Seidman.
Lastly, where do you see the Fashion industry going in the next five years, and How does your brand fit into that?
"In the next five years, I plan to see the retail industry have a bigger presence in e-commerce & luxury markets. Fast fashion has diluted high-quality and one-of-a-kind work. I hope to see a larger appreciation for niche brands and hand-crafted pieces." - Madison Seidman.
