Winter Hair Care Routine (No Heat)

Winter Hair Care Routine (No Heat)

When it comes to the winter season, New York can have some pretty harsh temperatures and although we all love staying inside with comfy sweaters and binge-watching Netflix, the cold temperatures can make some harsh moves on our skin and hair. With that said I wanted to share my winter hair care routine with you guys. I hope you enjoy

Personally, I have crazy hair I am 50% Dominican, 25% Puerto Rican and 25% Ecuadorian and I guess because I wasn't blessed in the hip department you could say it all went to my hair.

To start my hair care routine some may think that the first step is to wash your hair (I DONT). I always start with a hair mask. Nowadays there are all types of hair mask. I like to use a mask before I go into the shower because that way I keep all the oils my hair naturally produces in my scalp. Here are a few mask I like to use in my hair.

(I am always looking for more hair mask's if anyone knows of a good sulfate free mask DM me on Instagram.)

Once I finish the mask It is time to wash my hair. Due to the main action being done before and after I wash my hair I just do the basic lather rinse and repeat of shampoo and conditioner. At the moment I have color and keratin treated hair and this is the shampoo and conditioner I use. I do feel like it is a bit drying but I find that in many sulfate free shampoos (I don't know why that is). If any of you know a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner that is not drying please dm me on my Instagram.

Once I get out of the shower I like to comb out my hair with a wide tooth comb. I like to use wide tooth combs because I feel that when I use other brushes, they tend to rip out my hair or break easily. (R.I.P to my Mason Pearson hairbrush).

Once I finish getting all the knots out, its time for me to style my hair. I like to keep it as simple as possible. The same day that I wash my hair I tend to leave my hair in braids so that it locks the product in. Here are some of my ride or die products.

Depending on the look I'm doing I can always switch it up as long as I keep my hair hydrated. After I wash my hair I like to add some leave-in conditioner or a few spritz of light dry hair oil. I then would style my hair in braids. To finish off, I add a few drops of argan oil to the tips of my hair to keep them hydrated.

When I want to style my hair the next day or so I will add a little bit of Ouai texturizing hairspray and matte pomade (depending on the look I'm going for).

Well, guys, that's a wrap. I hope you guys enjoyed my hair care routine. I know that it's a little long but maybe if any of you are looking for a new hair care routine to follow this one will help you. Please don't forget to subscribe to the blog so you can be updated everytime I post.
